Giving Back to the ʻāina 

Downloadable lesson for 5th grade students focusing on changes in ahupuaa over time. Students document changes in Kamananui Valley and help restore the forest using plants they cared for at school. Students will create an ahupua'a newspaper to be shared with the school community. This lesson aligns with state standards and benchmarks. Although specific to Moanalua, it can be adapted for other ahupuaa. More student sheets.

SchoolYard to forest

Downloadable lesson for 4th grade students focusing on the impact of invasive species on native forests. Students research native and invasive plants and complete a schoolyard weed survey. This lesson aligns with state standards and benchmarks. Although specific to Moanalua, it can be adapted for other ahupuaa.
